Hi everyone!!! If you check my previous post you will see that I just finished Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas and I think I am ready to start writing my review. But to do that I need to review the other two books I haven’t reviewed yet. So here I am with…Heir of Fire!!!
So the Heir of Fire is being told from four main characters, Celaena, Dorian, Chaol and we are introduced to a new character as, Manon!! This book has a lot going on and some might say that it wasn’t the best book in the series, and maybe it isn’t, but I loved it because it had so many feels!!! I think this book is the most emotional of them all!!!!
I’m going to start with Manon, she is an Ironteeth witch and heir of her Coven, the Blackbeaks. She is, also, the leader of the Thirteen, a group of witches who are loyal to her. The witches make an alliance with the King of Adarlan to fight for him in the war to come and he will help them reclaim their lands. Each witch chooses a wyvern to ride and Manon names hers Abraxos. She fixes him with iron teeth and nails and they are ready to take all the other witches!!! Manon is a heartless witch who hates the Crochans, peaceful living witches, and humans. She is a very interesting character because she starts to realize that after 116 years maybe things aren’t what she believed them to be. Truth is when I was reading this book at first I found her chapters a little bit unnecessary but as I got into her story I really liked her!
“Witches didn’t need blood to survive, but humans didn’t need wine, either.”
Chaol, in Adarlan has to, also, deal with a new person. The Wolf of the North and cousin to Aelin, Aedion Ashryver! I LOVED Aedion with his swagger and sarcasm! As it turns out Aedion isn’t the devoted general to the King but a rebel who secretly wants to over through the King. When Chaol learns that the parties Aedion threw were cover for rebel meetings they decide to exchange information and kind of work together. Aedion will tell Chaol about the lost magic and Chaol will tell Aedion about who and where Aelin is!
Dorian has a new woman in his life. She is a healer in the palace named Sorsha. I shipped Dorian and Celaena so much that I have to say I wasn’t ready for Dorian to be with someone else and I didn’t like Sorsha from the very start. Dorian is trying to learn to control his magic with the help of Sorsha. His relationship with Chaol is practically non exist especially when he learns the truth about Celaena by overhearing Chaol talking to Aedion. But they reluctantly help each other to try and bring back magic in Adarlan.
The boys of Thrones of Glass Fan Art (Chaol, Dorian, Rowan, Aedion, Sam)
Celaena is in Wendlyn to kill the King of Wendlyn and his heir Prince Galan Ashryver, who as we found out are related to Celaena or should I say Aelin? Anyway, she has no intention of actually killing them so she is trying to get information on how to destroy the king’s power from her immortal aunt and Fae Queen Meave. Honestly when the book talked about Meave I expected someone good who was going to help Celaena, until we met her. And she was awful. She was a total bitch. But Celaena strakes a deal with her, she will train with Rowan, a Fae Prince and blood sworn-Warrior to Maeve, to master her fire gifts and she will tell her how to stop the king.
This book introduces man new characters such as Rowan. He is blood-sworn to Maeve which means he has to follow her every command, and he is the kind of character who is angry at the whole world and has a secret dark past which led him to Maeve after losing everything else. This behavior kind of got on my nerves at first but as the book progresses there are a lot of character development both from Rowan and Celaena. They learn to be themselves together and by the end of the book they connect with each other!!
“She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, and she would not be afraid”
The end of the book is very intense for all of our characters!! While Celaena finally accepts who he is Dorian loses himself to the Valgs!! Chaol is on his own and Manon becomes Wing Leader to lead the war of the King! We also learn some things about Celaena’s past, her life as a princess and her parent’s death.
