Hello!!!! The Queen is back with another review!!! Today I will be reviewing A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas!!! As many of you might have realized I am a BIG SJM fan and I can’t help but show it!!!
So this book is introduced as a retelling of the classic fairytale the Beauty and the Beast. I was very hesitant to buy it because I thought that I wouldn’t like it even if it was written by one of my favorite authors. After much thinking I decided that I should at least give it a try and let me tell you I sooo glad I did!!!
The book is about Feyre, a human who finds herself living amongst her worst enemy, the Fae. In a land called Prythian when it is divided from the mortal world with a magical wall. Humans are afraid of the Fae and they hate them. Feyre is no exception as she kills a white wolf even though she knows it is probably a Fae in an animal form.
Feyre is living at the Spring Court with Tamlin, the High Lord of the land and Lucien, the son of the Lord of the Autumn Court. The land has been cursed by a smart and ruthless Fairy Queen. Even though at first Feyre hates Tamlin and the Fae as she lives with them she understands that maybe they aren’t what she expected them to be. Maybe they are more human than she expected!!
“I love you,” I said, and stabbed him.”
As I said before I was afraid that I wouldn’t like it because it would be too similar to the original Beauty and the Beast fairytale but I couldn’t be more wrong!! I almost forgot it was a retelling!!! I was an great book and ance again Sarah wrote something amazing!!!
As for the characters I have to say Tamlin wasn’t one of my favorite characters from the beginning and those of you who have read the second book knows that I was right!! On the other hand I loved Lucien!! I loved his character and his behavior!!! He is sassy but under all the sarcasm there is a gentle soul who has been badly hurt!!
Feyre is the main character and as the book progresses we see her opinions about the Fae change and she falls in love with Tamlin! She wants to do everything in order help the people who took care of her while doing many sacrifices! Some good, some bad to beat Amarantha! She is a bitch but I like her name !
Overall I really like the book and I would definitely recommend it to everyone who likes a good retelling or generally a good fantasy novel!!!
“Be glad of your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don’t feel anything at all.”
