Hi everyone!!!! I know it’s been a while since my last update and review but I have a big project for university and my free time is quite limited these past few days!! So I know you missed me and I missed you as well as writing a good review so I decided to write about Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo!!!
“No mourners. No funerals. Among them, it passed for ‘good luck.”
Six of Crows is definitely the book of the month for me. It was so good to read, it made me laugh but it also made me feel sorry for the characters. It had humor but with a good dose of drama and let me tell you, I LOVE drama!!!!! All the characters had their own fears, dreams and stories to tell!!
Get ready for a LONG review and some spoilers!!!
The book takes place in the Grisha Universe, if you have readthe Grisha Trilogy by the author you’ll probably know a little bit more about the world. A few years ago I had read the first book of the Trilogy but I never read the rest and I didn’t remember many details, so if you haven’t read the Grisha Trilogy don’t worry you won’t miss things!! The book is told by multiple POVs and that’s why the reader is able to learn each story directly from each character. Our six Crows (main characters) are Kaz Brekker, Inej Ghafa, Matthias Helvar, Nina Zenik, Jesper Fahey and Wylan Van Eck.
“The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.”
Inej, also known as the Wraith, was a Suli acrobat from a nomadic tribe who was taken and sold as at a pleasuring house until Kaz and his gang, the Dregs, paid her debts and she started working for him as a spy.
Matthias, was a Fjerdan warrior trained to kill Grishas. Until he was on a shipwreck and he had to survive with a Grisha prisoner, Nina. They learn to trust each other and they even start to develop feelings but don’t act upon them. Later Nina accuses Matthias of being a slaver and he is put to prison.
Nina, the Grisha Heartrender, after developing feeling for Matthias she accused him of slavery in order to protect him of other Grishas and get him out away from danger. When he was taken to Ketterdam she tried to take back the accusations but she was unsuccessful and she stayed in the city trying to raise money and get Matthias out of prison.
Jesper is a sharpshooter and a secret Grisha. He arrived in Ketterdam to attend university and help his father with his farm but he got addicted to gambling and in order to get help with his debts he joined the Dregs and gave up the university.
Wylan, is the son of rich merchant. He is smart, very good at chemistry and making bombs!! But for all his mind and the tutoring by his father he never learned to read. That’s why when he decided to leave his home his father was more than happy to see him leave, as his father saw him as a disappointment.
I left Kaz at the end because I also leave the best things last…Kaz is my new book-crush, I just love him!!! He is dark character with an even darker past and let me tell you that I’m one of those type of girls that are attracted to dark guys. Kaz is SO my kind of guy!! Kaz, also known as Dirtyhands always wears a pair of leather gloves, has a pair of lock picks and is the leader of the six. Then he was young he and his brother went to Ketterdam for a better life but a man pretending to be a merchant stole their money and when his brother died Kaz became someone who could survive on his own in the city and promised to get revenge from the man that stole their money.
And now back to the present where Kaz strikes a deal with a merchant, he will retrieve a scientist, who developed a powerful drug for the Grisha, from an impenetrable island in exchange for 30 million kruge. Kaz gathers his gang and with the promise of money and they begin their journey. They form a crazy plan and while they go on their plans change and become even crazier. I loved the way the author portrayed the characters and the events. She was reveling bits and pieces that made you think it was irrelevant and when she finally reviles everything she left me amazed.
I don’t want to spoiler you too much about the plot so let me tell you about Kaz! As I already said I loved him his story is full of drama and even if he is ruthless deep down he has feelings. There are a few moments in the book where he lets Inej see beneath his mask and my heart hurt to while I was reading it!! By the way if you having realized yet I ship Kaz and Inej so much!! Kaz deserves love in his life !!!!! ❤ < 3 ❤ ❤
“I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker. Or I will not have you at all.”
Thank you for reading and sorry for the long review but I wanted to talk about Kaz!! Also, I love the fan art, of course they are not mine but I love browsing through Pinterest and finding all these gems!!! ❤
Until next review!!!!!!! Have a nice weekend!!!!!!
